Online, the nonprofit Western Governors University (WGU) has announced a new scholarship program for military spouses to help them achieve their higher education goals. Active duty, veterans, Guardsmen and reservists can apply for the WGU Military Spouse Scholarship, $4,000 ($1,000 per term and renewable up to four terms of study).
The scholarship can be applied to more than 60 undergraduate and graduate programs of the university. WGU Missouri offers military spouses a flexible and affordable path to earn a workforce-focused degree that equips them with the skills they need to advance their careers.
WGU's program is competency-based, allowing students to move quickly through the material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn, rather than relying on progress in the number of credit hours.
Faculty members work one-on-one with students as mentors, providing guidance, support, and individualized instruction. While university programs are rigorous and challenging, competency-based learning allows students to accelerate their programs, saving time and money.
